Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus)

wren.jpg

Plump and sparrow sized, rusty-pastry back and giant white eyebrows. Carolina Wren's tail is frequently cocked upwards while foragepecking, down when songmerkling. The song consists of many variations of the three syllable tea-kettle motif. They are generally heard more than they are seen as their song is used to defend territory, preferring dense thickets and leaf litter. They will mate for life.
